QB Testing for ADHD

FDA-cleared, objective ADHD assessment for children and adults—bringing clarity and data to the diagnostic process.

Objective Data for a Complex Diagnosis

ADHD is one of the most common—and most misunderstood—mental health conditions. Traditional diagnosis relies heavily on subjective reports: questionnaires, behavioral observations, and self-assessment. While these tools are valuable, they can leave patients and families wondering whether the diagnosis is truly accurate.

At Sentry Integrative Mental Health, we use QbCheck—an FDA-cleared, objective testing tool developed by Qbtech—to add measurable, quantitative data to the ADHD assessment process. QbCheck doesn’t replace clinical judgment; it strengthens it with objective evidence.

What Is QbCheck?

QbCheck is a computer-based continuous performance test that objectively measures the three core symptom domains of ADHD:

  • Attention (Inattention) — Measures how consistently you can sustain focus on a task over time, tracking missed responses and variations in reaction speed.
  • Impulsivity — Records incorrect responses to non-target stimuli, reflecting patterns of acting before thinking.
  • Activity (Hyperactivity) — Uses camera-based motion tracking to capture physical movement during the test, providing objective data on restlessness and motor activity.

Results are compared against age- and sex-matched normative data from individuals without ADHD, giving your provider a clear, objective picture of where your symptoms fall relative to the general population.

FDA-cleared and clinically validated. QbCheck received FDA clearance in 2016 to aid in the assessment of ADHD and to evaluate treatment effectiveness. It has been used in over 1 million tests worldwide across more than 35,000 clinical users, according to the manufacturer.

Who Is QbCheck For?

QbCheck is designed for patients ages 6 to 60 and is appropriate for:

  • Children and adolescents struggling with focus, impulsivity, or hyperactivity at school or home
  • Adults who suspect they may have ADHD but have never been formally assessed
  • Patients seeking a second opinion or additional data to confirm or refine an existing diagnosis
  • Patients already on ADHD medication who want to objectively measure treatment effectiveness over time

How the Test Works

  1. Guided setup — The test includes video instructions and is administered under clinical supervision. It can be completed in our office or remotely via telehealth.
  2. Continuous performance task — You respond to on-screen stimuli (shapes) over approximately 15–20 minutes while the system tracks your attention, response accuracy, and physical movement.
  3. Automated reporting — Results are generated instantly and compared against normative data, producing a clear visual report your provider reviews with you.
  4. Clinical interpretation — Your provider combines QbCheck results with a comprehensive clinical interview, symptom history, and other assessment tools to form a complete picture.

Why Objective Testing Matters

ADHD symptoms overlap with many other conditions—anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and trauma can all mimic or coexist with ADHD. Objective data helps your provider:

  • Differentiate ADHD from conditions with similar presentations
  • Identify specific symptom profiles (predominantly inattentive, hyperactive-impulsive, or combined)
  • Establish a baseline before starting medication
  • Track treatment response with measurable before-and-after comparisons
  • Make more informed decisions about medication adjustments

A Mental Health–First Approach to ADHD

At Sentry, we don’t view ADHD in isolation. Attention and focus challenges are often intertwined with anxiety, depression, sleep disruption, and lifestyle factors. Our assessment process considers the whole picture—because getting the right diagnosis means getting the right treatment.

If ADHD is confirmed, we develop a comprehensive plan that may include medication management, lifestyle coaching, and coordination with therapists and other providers. If testing suggests something else is at play, we help you find the right path forward.
